Hijama (Cupping ) - Dry , Wet and Fire
First and foremost you have to understand the importance of cupping before you even do it . It was declared by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the best of medicine alongside the Quran.
He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Cupping is the most helpful procedure for human beings to cure themselves.” (Sahih al-Bukhari º5357)
Now that we are in 2022, their are a few ways you can implement hijama(cupping) . We have dry cupping which is a suction whereby the cups are placed over several areas to create a vacuum which lifts the soft tissue and creates an upward stretch within the muscle and associated fascia. This vacuum lift helps to increase in blood flow and induces a stretch effect, which results in a reduction in muscle tension and associated pain.
Wet cupping is also another example of hijama(cupping) this is the same as dry cupping but instead of just the suction , there is a slit afterwards whereby all the toxins and bad blood is released . Many athletes opt for this option to treat muscle soreness, recover faster, and help with range of motion. The most common question asked is whether it hurts ? The answer to that is very simple , if you can hack/handle a small pinch this slit that is performed doesn't even come close to that pain it is lesser .
